The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) of the United Nations has released its special report on Renewable Energy Sources. The report attests to the demand from many governments, actors in civil society, and the private sector for more substantial information about the use of Renewable Energy.

Among the findings to be released by the report are data regarding:
• The (carbon) mitigation potential of Renewable Energy sources
• The options and constraints for integration of Renewable Energy into the conventional energy supply
• The accelerated deployment of Renewable Energy

This work will form the basis for substantial follow-on activities.

Alternative Energy Spot is underscoring the release of this report, and the political momentum behind it, by conducting a public contest to demonstrate interest in energy conservation and renewable alternatives to energy consumption by the common homeowner.

The Contest asks visitors to www.alternativeenergyspot.com to choose from one of the presented options for very quickly and simply saving energy which over the course of the year can yield significant utility bill savings. Furthermore, these are all done through very simple behavioral changes in using everyday electric and electronic appliances.

The reader is encouraged to visit www.alternativeenergyspot.com for more information and to participate in this contest. All participation is completely free of charge to the visitor.
