AlphaDogs Post Production Finishes Time Again For Action On International Film Festival
AlphaDogs Post Production creates time travel look for Time Again. The sci-fi thriller is an official selection for the Action On Film Festival in Pasadena this July.
Online, July 18, 2011 (Newswire.com) - AlphaDogs Post Production and Nasty Stranger Productions has announced that Time Again has been accepted as an official selection of the 2011 Action On International Film Festival in Pasadena, CA. The festival will be held July 22-July 30, 2011 at Regency's Academy Theaters. The four day event will include film screenings, workshops, seminars, and two special non-profit benefit events.
Described by Director Ray Karwel as Time Cop meets Die Hard, the thrilling Sci-Fi action adventure follows a young waitress after she receives strange coins for a tip. She inadvertently becomes embroiled in an underworld battle with a notorious criminal and his posse that leads to her death. With the help of a mysterious old lady, the waitress's younger sister goes back in time to save her.
To achieve the look for Time Again, Director Karwel chose AlphaDogs Post Production to complete the finishing. Karwel comments, "AlphaDogs offered flexibility in helping me stay within my budget. Having all the post services at the same location eliminated any potential coordination and communication problems that can arise when you have different post facilities working on only one aspect of the film."
Distinct looks were required to reflect two different time periods in the story. This look was achieved entirely in post production with the use of the Avid Symphony color correction toolset under the guidance of AlphaDogs owner, Terence Curren. Shots were also created in post to make different locations around LA appear adjacent to one another, all essential in creating the time-travel illusion. AlphaDogs Senior Animator and Designer Russell Frazier created this look by using Photoshop for retouching and After Effects to combine the retouched stills with live action, including restoring camera movement and traffic to the finished shots.
To enhance the feel of this "edge of your seat" thriller, AlphaDogs Audio Mixer Isai Espinoza utilized a 5.1 surround mix with help from the Avid Artist Series as well as an extensive sound library to create the surround soundscape that is essential for an action feature.
Time Again was written, produced and Directed by Ray Karwel for Nasty Strangers Productions.
