The Beauty in the Shadows Collection was created to inspire women to encourage other women through gifts. These special gifts are created to promote hope, healing and joy.

The most lovely of flowers bloom in the shadows, and what lovelies those shadows did bring, is the driving perspective behind the gifts found in this collection. Dark seasons in a woman’s life are inevitable, but she should not have to walk through them alone.

“In my own stages of grief, a knowing hug and thoughtful gift were much more helpful than most well-meaning words of sympathy," says Alisha Cole, Artist and Founder of Alisha Joy Cole Art & Lovelies.

In experiencing the isolation that often accompanies significant loss, Alisha realized that typical expressions of sympathy were not quite enough to help in the healing process. Thankfully, her developing art and personal journaling became a critical means to process and acknowledge her grief.  She transformed her own pain and healing into artwork from which she then crafted into prints and later journals.

"The first time I met a woman grieving as I had, I wondered how I could help in a truly meaning way.  Then it dawned on me that my artwork could help communicate to her that she wasn't alone.  I decided to give her some of my artwork created while a was grieving as a gift. Her tearful response communicated everything to me that she could not verbalize in the moment, and I realized what an inspired gift like this could accomplish."

Every work of art purchased from that moment on has provided opportunities for Alisha to generously give her artwork to more women in need of encouragement.

The mixed media art prints are inspired by sweet messages of hope, that Jesus whispered to Alisha's heart as it healed. They are continued reminders that something good and beautiful will come out of the shadows we are in, if we allow it.

Alisha also took a deeply personal piece of artwork and turned it into covers for handmade, coptic stitch, grief journals to share with women who grieve all kinds of losses. “God made me look beyond myself and turned my pain into something beautiful for others. Making these journals and praying over the pages with a specific woman’s name on my heart as I sew each one in, is the most precious, healing, and humbling time for me," she shares.

Alisha believes there is healing in the journaling process. It is a safe and healthy place to scream, cry, and pray through the bad days; to record the hope, healing, and joy on the good days; and remember all the grace given for the days in-between.
