Alexis Renee Ruby to Choreograph at the Largest Musical Theater Celebration for Young People in the World

Alexis Renee Ruby, an award-winning choreographer, performing arts instructor and actor/performer has been asked to choreograph and assist with auditions for a DVD choreography opportunity in New York City at the Junior Theater Festival.

Alexis Reneé Ruby of Duluth, Georgia was recently invited to the 2016 Junior Theater Festival to choreograph and assist with DVD Choreography auditions. The honor was offered to her by Broadway Junior’s resident choreographer and Vice President of Publishing for iTheatrics, Steven G. Kennedy. Alexis Renee, a Georgia native is a past attendee of the Junior Theater Festival and past recipient of the Junior Theater Festival All-Star Award within her troupe the “Play On Players” based out of Gainesville Georgia. This opportunity allowed her to go to New York City and work for two-weeks as a Broadway Jr Professional to workshop the show “West Side Story Highschool” where she was cast as “Grazziella”. Ms. Ruby also was awarded a golden ticket and call back to the DVD Choreography audition the following year.

The "Play On Players" children's theater troupe has been awarded the highest honor of Outstanding Production two years in a row at the Junior Theater Festival and Alexis has been the dance captain and assistant choreographer with them for two years. The troupe is run by Haden Rider and Carly Berg in Gainesville, Georgia. Alexis Renee is also a pre-professional musical theater company alum of Chambers Performing Arts based in Alpharetta, Georgia where she performed in several musical theater vignettes and was cast in lead roles in the "Wizard of Oz", "Anything Goes" and "42nd Street".


The Junior Theater Festival is an annual event held in Marietta, Georgia at the Cobb Galleria and is the largest musical theater celebration in the world with over 4,500 attendees in total and over 100 junior musical theater groups from around the world with performers from ages 8-18. The festival has been headlined by Broadway greats like Megan Hilty and Seth Rudetsky, and this year’s headliner Emmy Award nominee Darren Criss of “Glee”, “How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” and “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”.

Alexis Reneé Ruby is an award-winning choreographer and currently an instructor at the school North Georgia Performing Arts in Rabun Gap, Georgia where she teaches various genres of dance, voice and acting for performing arts. She also coaches privately. Additionally she is an aspiring film actor in the Atlanta area and has several IMDb credits to her name working on short and full length feature films.
