Advice Columnist, Hottywood Helps Joins Host of Political and Media Figures to Advocate for Improved Reading Skills and Resources

Advice columnist, Hottywood of HottywoodHelps.com joins a host of local political and media education advocates to obtain more resources for the students and teachers of Francis Stevens Education Campus (DCPS).

Francis Stevens Education Campus, a Washington DC inner city consolidated school, is hosting an up-and-coming scholastic book fair that will partner with community members, politicians, radio personalities and writers to fundraise for more resources for the school's students and teachers. Among the list of invited guests are Washington DC Mayor Adrian Fenty, District of Columbia Democratic at-large Councilmember Kwame R. Brown, radio personalities EZ Street and Shaquanda of WKYS 93.9 FM, and writer/advice columnist, Hottywood of HottywoodHelps.com.

The goal is to collect monies to provide more books for students and teachers in conjunction with the Classroom Wish List and One for Books programs. The fair will offer titles from more than 100 publishers at reduced prices for readers of all ages and will afford pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students an opportunity to have their favorite books read to them by Hottywood, the creator and author of HottywoodHelps.com.

"There's a whole world in books. The kind that we create with our imagination; and you can't get any more real than the imagination," says Hottywood. "When you get a school and community together for any reason, it's a big deal. But when you get them together to fundraise for better resources to improve reading skills, it's powerful. And I am definitely an advocate for education and comprehensive reading skills," Hottywood continues.

With the help of the community and other education advocates, the school's book fair - themed "Here's To Our Heroes!" - will remind children and adults that reading saves the day. Proceeds from the drive will go to improve Francis Stevens Education Campus' school library and classroom assets.

"Time is the one item that we all have that is the most valuable and the most limited. We have to be willing to sacrifice and pitch in for our children," says Desiree McCoy, Francis Stevens Education Campus PTA President.

The book fair will open to both school and community on Monday, October 25-Thursday, October 28 from 10am-10:45am and 12pm-12:45pm and also Tuesday, October 26 and Thursday, October 28 from 3:30pm-5pm.
