Adrian George Uses Cash Flow Planning Designation to Help High-Income Professionals Structure Their Spending and Saving
Online, January 15, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The practice of cash flow planning is certainly not akin to budgeting. If you look at the client-base of Alberta advisor, Adrian George, the difference is clear.
George, the first in Alberta to receive the Certified Cash Flow Specialist Designation, specializes in corporate and personal planning for physicians and dentists. Clients in these income brackets are not in need of budgets but, as George notes, cash flow planning—having a written plan to detail how much they'd like to spend and how much they'd like to save each month—can help to maximize their money.
"Whether I'm helping someone just starting out who is looking to repay debt efficiently, or assisting a retiring client to structure their income and provide maximum flexibility, certainty and longevity, the number one concern was consistently the same—helping them organize and implement an effective cash flow plan," he says.
Unlike many financial professionals, George had incorporated cash flow planning into his practice long before the launch of the designation. As he notes, "An effective cash flow plan is the lynch-pin of any financial planning." But he says the CCS™ course is unique because it helps advisors to not only implement plans but to create plans that clients are able to stick with in the long-run.
The long-run is important to many of George's clients as the majority are dentists and physicians in the early stages of their professional careers. At this juncture, many of them have acquired debt in the form of student loans and via the cost of living as a student. George seizes the opportunity to help these young professionals, "I find it's when they need my help the most since the smallest changes now can pay big dividends down the road with a much lesser amount of effort than to have to correct issues that have compounded over the years with poor money habits."
George notes that many young doctors and dentists are thinking about starting families and wondering whether they can shoulder the cost of buying into a practice. He says that cash flow planning takes the pressure off by allowing them to have their financial lives mapped out.
The idea is that stress is minimized when people are provided with financial blueprints because all they have to do is follow the plan and they'll be on track toward goals like paying off their mortgage or becoming debt-free much more quickly.
The CCS is the first designation in Canada to focus exclusively on cash flow planning. After over twenty years in Financial Services, George has earned a vast number of designations to augment his professional credentials including his CFP (Certified Financial Planner Designation), TEP (Trust and Estate Practitioner), CSWP (Chartered Strategic Wealth Professional), FMA (Financial Management Advisor), EPC (Elder Planning Consellor) and FCSI (Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute). Despite all the experience under his belt, George says, "Whether you're new in the industry, or a seasoned advisor like me, the CCS course sets you apart from your competition."
About the CCS:
The Certified Cash Flow Specialist (CCS) Designation is the first program of its kind in Canada. It recently launched, November 2013, and there are currently 9 Financial Professionals who have received the CCS Designation. Certified Cash Flow Specialists are tested for competency in the use of cash flow formulas, behavioural spending concepts, debt management, and on the review and creation of written cash flow plans. Designates must meet continuing education requirements as well as follow a professional code of conduct. In order to renew the designation, qualified professionals will have their skills put to the test by completing an annual case study and will be required to prove they are actively and regularly writing cash flow plans for their clients.
