ACAC Board Grants Professional Certification to Indoor Environmental Consultants from Four Countries
Online, January 20, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) convened its Indoor Environmental certification board on December 11th for a periodic review of candidate applications. After a formal discussion addressing each application file separately, the board voted unanimously in favor of seven (7) candidates, who were granted the Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) designation for a period of two years.
The newly certified CIECs hail from 4 countries and territories, including Canada, Guam and Brazil in addition to the United States.
The CIEC designation is awarded by unanimous vote of the board to candidates who document at least eight years of verifiable field experience in indoor environmental consulting. This field involves consulting on microbial, chemical, ventilation and air quality issues in the built environment. CIECs work in a variety of settings, including residential, commerical, industrial and governmental facilities.
In addition to proving their field experience, candidates for the CIEC must pass a psychometrically rated, closed-book examination developed by the ACAC certification board. They must also recertify every two years to keep pace with the rapidly changing field of environmental consulting.
The CIEC designation is accredited by the Council for Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB), a nationally recognized third party accreditation body. It is the only certification of its kind to be CESB-accredited.
"Accredited, board-awarded certification is a valuable mark of distinction," said Charlie Wiles, ACAC executive director. "We are proud to welcome these experienced professionals into the ACAC family."
Candidates approved at the December 11th meeting join more than 3,000 ACAC certificants around the world. A continuously updated directory of current ACAC certificants can be found on the ACAC website at http://www.acac.org/find/database.aspx.
