42nd Annual Gypsy Caravan Moves To A New Location

Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2014 at The Family Arena, St. Charles, MO

On Memorial Day, the St. Louis Symphony Volunteer Association presents Gypsy Caravan for the 42nd straight year. A city within a city is created for up to 15,000 shoppers eager to find bargains and unique treasures as one of the Midwest's largest antique, craft and flea markets takes place. This shopper's paradise, on May 26, will be open from 7am to 5pm, rain or shine and located at The Family Arena, 2002 Arena Parkway in St. Charles, Missouri.

This year will be the first year for Gypsy Caravan to be located at The Family Arena! The move allows for both indoor and outdoor booth spaces for vendors and attendees, as well as flat, accessible, adjacent parking for attendees. The arena floor and south parking lot will be transformed as vendors display their wares. Gypsy Caravan is offering hundreds of outdoor vendor spaces as well as over 100 indoor arena floor vendor spaces, which will provide air conditioned comfort for both the vendors and ticket buyers.

Because Gypsy Caravan is a nationally recognized fair, vendors come from a number of states and offer everything from trinkets to treasures, birdhouses, to bureaus. It's an incredible selection of antiques, collectibles, jewelry, furniture, fashions, crafts and much more. Something is bound to catch the shopper's eye, capture their hearts and whet their appetite. Back by popular demand is a bigger and better Children's Corner including crafts with Jenny Murphy from Perennial, a cookie decorating station with cookies donated from Dierberg's and featuring the Symphony's Instrument Playground.

Also new in 2014, Gypsy Caravan will hold a Peek and Purchase event on Sunday, May 25, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The Peek and Purchase admission of $30 gives shoppers the very first chance to shop at vendor booths on Sunday and also includes general admission on Monday. Regular admission for Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. is $10, while Early Bird admission for Monday from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. will be $20.

Those wanting to attend both the Peek and Purchase as well as Monday's event can purchase discounted admission wristbands at their local Dierberg's Markets for $27.50. Additional discounted wrist bands are also available: Early Bird $17.50 wristband; General Admission $8.50 wristband. The wristband sales also get special, express entry at all gates. Children under the age of 13 are free.

With help from Dierberg's and sponsor, The Missouri Lottery, proceeds from the event support the St. Louis Symphony and Education Concerts serving 40,000 students from 1,000 area schools each season. The Symphony offers more than 250 free community events each year across the region.

Starting in 1973, Gypsy Caravan has raised more than $3.4 million in support of the St. Louis Symphony and its mission to enrich people's lives through the power of music. The St. Louis Symphony Volunteer Association (SVA) hosts the traditional Memorial Day event in an effort to present unique education programs and fundraising projects that support the STL Symphony and reach thousands of students each year.
