200 Youth Volunteers Greet International Peace Messenger at D.C. Airport
WASHINGTON, D.C., June 2, 2018 (Newswire.com) - More than 200 youth peace volunteers gathered at Ronald Reagan National Airport Friday morning to welcome a world peace messenger from South Korea and chairman of nonprofit international peace organization, Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL). Chairman Man Hee Lee was welcomed with cheers that rang all throughout the airport, singing, dancing, and brightly colored posters, such as one that read “Welcome, Messenger of Peace!”
Chairman Lee and peace delegates from affiliate peace groups International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG) and International Peace Youth Group (IPYG), were led to a seating area for a special performance by the volunteers of HWPL, in celebration of their visit to Washington, D.C. to proclaim peace.
"Washington D.C. needs to become a peace zone," said airport onlooker Joy Mala, who was curious about the festivities. "We cannot keep dreaming that the next generation will do it. It's time to act now, and put peace as a first priority for the sake of mankind."

Ariful Islam, Washington correspondent for NRB Connect, interviewed Chairman Lee. He asked, “What work do you hope to accomplish for world peace here in Washington DC, and what is your message of peace for the many world leaders who gather here?” Chairman Lee responded with a smile. He plans to continue this conversation here in D.C., as he is scheduled to meet with local officials, educators, and religious leaders to discuss this work of peace.
Chairman Lee also mentioned his recent discussions with UN ambassadors in New York focused primarily on working together to implement peace initiatives on a global scale, including HWPL’s Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW), a legal framework composed of 10 articles and 38 clauses drafted by prominent international law experts from 15 different countries. He asked ambassadors to urge their heads of state to adopt the DPCW in their countries for the sake of creating a peaceful world for future generations.
HWPL is an international non-profit organization committed to comprehensive peacebuilding involving all voices of the community. HWPL accomplishes its mission of global peacebuilding through international law and alliance of religions to equip individuals and communities as active advocates of peace. Chairman Lee, a war veteran, has set out on a series of peace tours to build partnership with global leaders and organizations through his inspiring messages of peace.
Chairman Lee, and delegates from IWPG and IPYG, emphasized how important this work of peace is, especially in the nation’s capital. This work of peace is very tangible, but it takes every effort from those with the heart to want change. Chairman Lee’s moving and passionate responses left volunteers and airport onlookers feeling hopeful.
