1st MathSpeak India Conference to Focus on Teaching Mathematics and Numeracy in the 21st Century India
New Delhi, August 8, 2014 (Newswire.com) - 8th Aug, New Delhi: The Inaugural MathSpeak India International Conference and Exhibition which will take place in New Delhi on 8th Aug and in Jaipur on 11th Aug will have the programme of the conference focus around the rapid evolution taking place in how we teach and learn maths, and numeracy at schools, colleges and further education. The conference and exhibition is aimed at math teachers in schools and in further education to learn and understand the scope of the radical new ways of delivering learning and education to help us take a quantum leap into a more integrated society that fulfills the aspiration of man.
Symptomatic of the 21st century, the latest technologies, tools and techniques, the rapid pace of learning is about to galvanize industry and communities. At the K-12 level, fundamental and basic knowledge of mathematics and use of these concepts and understanding are considered as life-skills that are used in workplace and education. Mathematics is needed in everyday life, the significant importance of skills in Mathematics so designed to help one build the practical skills to get the most out of work, education and everyday life, said Dr. Tejwant Chhatwal, CEO, Education for Employment Foundation, a not-for-profit organization based in Delhi who are the chief organizers of MathSpeak India Conference and Exhibition. “Mathematics Skills called Numeracy Skills which are developed gradually at K-12 level and later on applied while working in any industry sector is also called Functional Skills because it’s a core element along with English (language communication) and ICT that provide individuals with the skills and abilities they need to operate confidently, effectively, independently in life, their communities and work”, he goes on to add, and “it’s these areas of functional skills that the conference and exhibition is trying to leverage”.

The opening ceremony and address for the 1st MathSpeak India conference in Delhi on 8th Aug 2014 will be formally done by Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chancellor & Professor of Mathematics, Delhi University and for MathSpeak India Conference in Jaipur later that week on 11th Aug will be inaugurated by Dr. Shyam Agarwal, Additional Secretary, Dept. of Education, Govt. of Rajasthan.
