10,000 "Smart" Job Seekers Discover Powerful New Technology
Online, August 22, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Improving Their Chances of Success with BION SmartFile
At 10:31am EDT on July 19, one minute after BION Enterprises released the commercial version of SmartFile for Job Seekers, their revolutionary document tracking technology, they had their first customer sign up. Thirty one days, three hours and 15 minutes later, they had signed on subscriber number 10,000, propelling the fledgling technology company into a very elite club of Software as a Service (SaaS) providers.
SmartFile can be used to track any document (such as Resumes for job seekers, sales presentations, project related documents for teams or copyrighted works for digital publishers to name a few) that a user shares via email, across a network or online --- a SmartFile user can see when that document is opened, by who it is opened, how many times it is opened. What makes SmartFile really unique is that the viewing computer doesn't need any special software, plugin or player of any type whatsoever. SmartFile works on any computer (Mac or PC) anywhere in the world. The majority of the new account users, according to Gray, have been job seekers using the technology to track resumes, make perfectly timed follow-up calls and improve their chances for success.
If SmartFile maintains its current rate of growth, BION would have added between 250,000 to 500,000 users by next July. Just to put those numbers in perspective, social media giant Facebook signed on 2 million accounts in its first year, while GoToMeeting and Carbonite, both acknowledged leaders in the SaaS world, took about three years to bring in between half a million to a million accounts.
As BION's CEO Mark Gray put it, "SmartFile's customer sign-up rate is growing exponentially and our hitting 10,000 accounts today is monumental, and we could not be more pleased to be helping so many job seekers track down the job of their dreams. as very few SaaS providers achieve that as a percentage of visitors or widespread adoptions. We had 600 new accounts in week one, 1200 in week two and over 3500 in week three. Those are pretty incredible figures in our industry."
BION CTO Wyly Wade, who, along with Gray is a co-founder of the company, agreed. "Over four weeks or so, we've had 10,000 new subscribers using SmartFile to search for jobs, and that's really why we developed the technology in the first place," said Wade, "We wanted people to have the ability to know when documents important to them were being viewed and by who."
Gray added that while the current market made job seekers the most obvious users, they expected the next quarter to see a substantial growth in subscribers using SmartFile for other purposes: Sales and marketing professionals and project management teams needing to coordinate documents.
While the current version of SmartFile can track documents only on computers or laptops, Version 3.0, currently in development, will be able to track documents on SmartPhones and other mobile devices. And the way individuals and entities conduct life and business, is unlikely to ever be the same again.
