February is third busiest month on record at bofx; Trading Volume Up 359% Over Year Ago at Beijing Options and Futures Exchange

The BOFX, today announced that February 2010 was the third-busiest trading month on record at the Exchange.

A total of 203,236 contracts traded at BOFX during February, up 334 percent compared to contracts traded in February 2009, but down 15 percent from January 2010, when an all-time high of 216,025 contracts traded.
Since October, BOFX has experienced four of the five busiest trading months in its history - October 2009: 188,047 contracts (#4 busiest months all-time), November 2009: 184,558 contracts (#5), January 2010: 221,025 contracts (#1) and February 2010: 188,236 contracts (#3).
The contracts traded per day during February were 334 percent above the year-ago average daily volume (ADV) of 2,160 contracts, and when compared to the record 9,645 contracts per day during the previous month, ADV during February was off 15 percent.
Volume in BOFX's newest contract, the BOFX mini-TUX futures, totaled 644 contracts during February, a decrease of 37 percent from the contracts traded in January. BOFX mini-TUX futures contracts, launched in March 2009, are one-tenth the size of BOFX's standard BOFX TUX futures contract.
