Elizabeth Banks Teams Up with Nestle Crunch to Raise Funds for Girl Scouts of America

Online, July 24, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Elizabeth Banks, star of upcoming film Catching Fire and former girl scout, became involved in an important organization of her youth and spoke about future projects.
In a recent interview with TheCelebrityCafe.com, Banks spoke about her ongoing contribution to Girl Scouts of America.

"I was a Girl Scout growing up. I was a Brownie first and then a Girl Scout, and I think it's just an amazing organization," Banks said. "For me, personally, I learned how to ride horses and learned needlepoint and I went to my first overnight camping trip."

Banks learned many skills from being a girl scout and believes in that opportunity being available to girls everywhere. Her support and the support of those who buy the candy will help raise funds for future Girl Scouts programming.

She also spoke about her upcoming film roles. Recently, she has been working on the 30 Rock set as Avery Jessop. Banks has worked on various movies like The Hunger Games, Our Idiot Brother, and What to Expect When You're Expecting. Her latest film, The Hunger Games, and her role as Effie Trinket gained her recognition.

"I think Effie is an incredible character and one of my all-time favorites. She's so over-the-top and so fun, and I feel like she's very layered and has a lot going on under the surface," she said. "Some people reading the book just try to write her off as comic relief, but to me, Effie is so much more. And Effie is the real representation of the Capitol in the books, and I think that is a lot of responsible for her to carry."

Playing Effie was a great privilege for Banks. As far as recent speculation about who should play Finnick, she said that she trusts the casting process.

Lastly, she spoke about her new film Pitch Perfect to come out in October. She is enthusiastic about this movie.

"My husband and my partner Max Handlemen and I found Pitch Perfect as a book proposal and it was written by Mickey Rapkin, who wrote for GQ for a very long time and writes for Elle now. He came across the real life story of these very funny characters on college campuses who compete in a cappella competitions. That is sort of the heart and soul of Pitch Perfect."
