Conflict Play Staged Outdoor At Fort Rodd Hill National Historic Site
Victoria's award winning independent theatre company has joined forces with Kaleidoscope Theatre to bring a play of conflict, hostility, and survival to life at Fort Rodd Hill & Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites of Canada.
Online, April 23, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Two unlucky soldiers from opposing sides find themselves stranded on a roof of a house adrift on the sea. Together they must overcome their heightened suspicions if they are to make it out of this ordeal alive. Separated by cultures, language and beliefs, they must find a deeper means of understanding and work together to survive.
Translated from it's original Italian into English, Robinson & Crusoe features Garry Garneau (Kaleidoscope's War of the Eagles, The Neverending Story, and Urban Arts' Marie Antoinette: The Color of Flesh) as a Canadian Soldier, and John Han, a recent graduate of The Canadian College of Performing Arts, performing entirely in his first language - Korean.
A fascinating story of hostility, friendship and discovering similarities among people. Not to be confused with Daniel Defoe's classic tale, Robinson & Crusoe by Italian playwrights Nino D'Intona and Giacomo Ravicchio, is a modern fable that puts two very different people in a predicament of unrelenting, involuntary closeness. Robinson & Crusoe addresses international conflict, race,conflict resolution, culture, and the struggle to survive and overcome adversity in a time of struggle.
Set in 1941 during the Battle of Hong Kong, Robinson & Crusoe is staged outdoors at Fort Rodd Hill & Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites of Canada with support from Kaleidoscope Theatre as part of the 2nd Annual Kaleidoscope Family Theatre Festival.
Robinson & Crusoe plays May 10-11 at Fort Rodd Hill & Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites of Canada at 11:00am and 2:00pm daily with special school Matinee's May 7-10.
