CIIT Philippines: Home of High-Caliber Graphics Design Pros

Despite the oversupply of college graduates in the Philippines, the graphic design industry is still in dire need of more artists and designers who can actually handle the project professionally.

With an aim to produce more innovative and artistic geniuses in the field of Information Technology and Digital Arts, CIIT College of Arts and Technology has once again honored the achievements of its graduates with its third commencement exercises held last September 21, 2013.

More than 50 students from different specialist courses attended the ceremony in the PETA Theater. The momentous event was an opportunity for parents, families, and friends to witness their loved ones graduate and earn their diplomas after period of hard work and perseverance.

Gracing the occasion with his encouraging opening remarks is Mr. Elson Niel Dagondon, CIIT president, and founder of Anino Games, the country's first and largest game development firm. Graduates Angelo Nathaniel Martinez (Salutatorian) and Earth Ponce Maniebo (Valedictorian) also uttered their speeches during the commencement ceremony.

Graduating students, who have successfully completed their course work and CIIT requirements, were ensured of relevant technical skills, as well as great careers after graduation. Also, they were provided with core competencies in their chosen field that are very much needed to succeed in today's globally competitive job market.

Indeed, CIIT College of Arts and Technology is committed to empower its students and adequately prepare them for the real demands of the workforce. They continue to provide their students with high quality and industry-based education at reasonable costs. In an effort to produce more high-caliber digital arts, multimedia arts, and IT professionals in the country and to meet the demands of globalization in digital and IT industry, CIIT has also added new curriculums in its degree programs.

Starting 2013, for instance, CIIT has offered Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. The degree program was designed to associate general education with both basic and specialized courses. Students can choose from any of the three specializations:

• Software Engineering

• Game Development

• Network Design

Unlike in diploma programs where major subjects like Computer Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, Automata and Language Theory, Logic Design and Switching Theory, and Digital Electronics are not available, in BS program, wide-range of subjects and more core skills are included. Thus, Computer Science course at CIIT provides students with the knowledge and skills on how to develop software systems and applications.

As it teams up with Anino Games, the country's most successful game development firm, CIIT ensures students that the course will not only provide them with the highest level of IT education in the Philippines, but also advance their skills in graphics design.

With this, much broader career options await CIIT graduates here and abroad.
