Body Mechanics Is Happy to Welcome a New Therapist

Online, June 3, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Body Mechanics Orthopedic Massage is proud to announce a new therapist on staff- Sylvia Muller. Sylvia was sought out for her specialty in Neuromuscular Massage Therapy(NMT) which is a comprehensive manual therapy that aids the balance between the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system.

Sylvia's Training

Sylvia is a NYS Licensed Massage Therapist graduating with an Associate's degree in Occupational Therapy from the Swedish Institute. She has over five years experience working a massage therapist at chiropractic offices as well and wellness centers doing sports massages. Sylvia is certified in Neuromuscular Therapy which is a comprehensive system of treatment that is for structural imbalances. The American Academy of Pain Management recognizes Neuromuscular massage therapy as an effective treatment for back pain caused by soft tissue injury, such as a muscle strain.

Along with her expertise in NMT, Sylvia is also certified in Pre-Natal massage and Fascial Movement Taping. She is currently working towards and Associate in Practitioner Training certification in Ortho-Bionomy. With all of her varying skills Sylvia incorporates all of her knowledge in NMT along with trigger points, PNF techniques, myofascial release and stretching to provide a unique therapeutic session for her clients to reduce stress, pain and discomfort from daily life, overuse or injury.

Outside of massage

Sylvia holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Rutgers University and formerly worked for a well known magazine publishing company. After many years she opted out of her publishing career in order to pursue her passion for being physically active with a career in bodywork. She is a distance cyclist, an avid hiker and backpacker, runner and practices yoga.
