Bill Kurzenberger Voted Best Male Vocalist By The Columbus Music Awards

Singer / Songwriter / Keyboardist To Perform At The Columbus Community Festival

The Columbus Music Awards have announced the voting results of the 2012 awards on their website, with several notable Columbus musicians winning awards. Singer/songwriter/keyboardist Bill Kurzenberger received the award for Best Male Vocalist in this inaugural year for the Columbus Music Awards. Noise Auction vocalist Tom Cline received the second place award, with singer Craig Ridgeway taking third place.

Josh Krajcik received the Columbus Music Award for Best Singer/Songwriter, with Kurzenberger taking the second place Singer/Songwriter award as well. Krajcik, also a long-time mainstay on the Columbus music scene, reached national prominence last fall on Fox's The X Factor. Additional Columbus acts receiving awards include jam-band pioneers ekoostik Hookah for Best Rock Band, Lindsay Compton for Best Female Vocalist, and Patrick McLaughlin for Best Album of 2011.

Kurzenberger has been performing around the Columbus area since 1994, both as a solo artist, and as keyboardist for fifteen Ohio-based bands. He currently sings and plays keyboards with Columbus's own Bug Hounds, Dayton-based Terrapin Moon, and the Skeleton Crew. Since the release of his second CD "Solitary Road" in 2010, Kurzenberger has performed frequently around the Midwest, traveling as far as Colorado and Missouri.

The Columbus Music Awards LLC were formed in August 2011 by Executive Producer Shanee "Nikki" Hunter, and are the first awards to be given to Columbus-area musicians in over a decade. TCMA held its first event, "Nominate Columbus" at Screaming Willies last November, with showcases by the Patrick McLaughlin Band, Electrocult Circus, Lions Among Men, and a solo performance by Kurzenberger.

Kurzenberger's "clearly seasoned musical talent paired with his amazing vocals created a new sultry vibe to the event, one that did not go unnoticed," said Nikki Hunter.

Kurzenberger performs next on Saturday June 23rd at Comfest, the Columbus Community Festival, at 12:15pm on the Solar Stage in Goodale Park. More information about Kurzenberger's CDs and upcoming shows is available at http://www.billsmusic.net .

The TCMAs will continue in 2013, with nominations starting in the fall. According to Hunter: "We hope to bring new and exciting features to the site that will also bring more visitors and more nominees!"
