Massengburg Media Partners With Anguilla's Burgeoning Musical Community, Resulting in First Production Ever to Feature Artists From One Caribbean Island Encompassing Multiple Musical Genres

Compilation Album Sounds of Anguilla (Volume 1) Includes Legendary Anguillian Artist Bankie Banx, Rising Vocalists Natalie, Amalia Watty and Wildly Popular Reggae Band True Intentions Album Available Now on iTunes and in Stores Everywhere September 18th

Massenburg Media (a Sony Red Distribution Company) has signed a diverse array of Anguillian musical artists to exclusive recording contracts. The first of several planned projects, Sounds of Anguilla (Volume 1) makes history as the first compilation to encompass artists from a single Caribbean island representing multiple genres: pop, reggae, hip-hop, soca and R&B. Likewise, it represents the first time ever that local Anguillian artists have been granted the opportunity to showcase their musical talents supported by a major U.S. distribution company (Sony Red). The island’s rhythmic pioneers, through their diverse harmonies, have fearlessly exhibited their passions on a single compact disc.

Music pioneer Kedar Massenburg has partnered with the Anguillian musical community to help bring this euphonious production to fruition. It seems fitting that this diverse compilation will be creatively guided and marketed by Massenburg, known for his versatility and huge success with cross-over artists. A complete promotional and marketing campaign will support this historic musical debut, along with a tour, a documentary and a music festival based on the Sounds of Anguilla compilation.

It's an honor to partner with the island of Anguilla and its thriving musical talent. The country over many years has built a growing reputation for its deeply enriching culture and heritage. With this compilation CD we now have the opportunity to globally expand the footprint of Anguilla's flourishing musical community. I look forward to promoting the sounds of the country's biggest and brightest, new and established artists including renowned musical legend, Bankie Banx, wildly popular lyrically dexterous rapper Raskim and rising songbirds Natalie, and Amalia Watty.

“It’s an honor to partner with the island of Anguilla and its thriving musical talent,” exclaims Massenburg. The country over many years has built a growing reputation for its deeply enriching culture and heritage. With this compilation CD we now have the opportunity to globally expand the footprint of Anguilla's flourishing musical community. I look forward to promoting the sounds of the country’s biggest and brightest, new and established artists including renowned musical legend, Bankie Banx, wildly popular lyrically dexterous rapper Raskim and rising songbirds Natalie, and Amalia Watty.

Proceeds from the sale of the compilation will be managed by The Anguilla Progressive Association of New York (APANY) with funds made available to all Anguillian artists, to benefit the island’s burgeoning musical community and support its efforts to record, tour and deliver the island’s diverse and melodious music to the world. A Sounds of Anguilla Scholarship has also been established for those who aspire to perform or enter the music business. APANY Inc. engages in various funding and fund-raising activities as part of its mission to develop and provide economic opportunities for all Anguillians.

The concept for this historic compilation was conceived by The Britto Agency, the island’s global public relations and brand-architecture firm. “The release of Sounds of Anguilla complements perfectly the 25-year celebration of the island’s world-renowned MoonSplash music festival,” said Marvet Britto, President and CEO. “Both represent mellifluous evidence of Anguilla’s abundance of artistic talent and rich musical heritage, and both masterfully illuminate the island’s wonderful cultural offerings.”

Added Britto: "Sounds of Anguilla Volume I transports listeners to this tranquil island paradise through the melodic waves of its distinct native sound. This compilation, steeped in Anguilla’s vibrant culture and wielded from the spirit of generations of ingrained heritage, will leave an indelible mark on the international landscape of music and catapult the island’s flourishing artistic community to the global stage.”

Sounds of Anguilla Track Listing Includes the following celebrated Anguillian Artists: the legendary Bankie Banx, Amalia Watty, True Intentions and Gerswin Lake and The Parables. The compilation was Executive Produced by Kedar Massenburg, Marvet Britto and Haydn Hughes. Sounds of Anguilla is available now on iTunes and will be available in stores everywhere September 18th.

About MASSENBURG MEDIA:

Massenburg Media was founded by Kedar Massenburg, former CEO of Motown Records who has sold over 50 million albums and won over 20 awards—including six Grammys. Massenburg inspired a cultural phenomenon by birthing the career of Erykah Badu, and introducing the world to D’Angelo, Kem and India Arie. In 2012 he launched the company that bears his name, designed to encompass its artists’ various media-related needs. Currently housing a roster of 3— Lylit (Pop), Rawyals (R&B/ Pop girl group) and Tayo (Hip-Hop)—each artist was handpicked by Massenburg himself; and each fit his desire for “relevance” within today’s industry. Former Massenburg Media artist Sisqo, formerly of Dru Hill—and a pop/R&B star in his own right—grasped the concept immediately and has worked to produce authentic current music.
