The Creation Of Qooid, The Website Dedicated To Genius, Oestrus And Inventiveness

The innovative social multimedia, which objective is to focus talent, creativity and all global information within one virtual space

It will be a presentation that equals the grandeur of the name itself, that of Qooid, the website designed to offer anyone, anywhere in the world, wherever they may be, the chance to publicise their creative and expressive skills to a global audience. The idea behind this is to provide a space for free and democratic expression: free because there is no limit to participation, merely to be of the legal age, democratic because all those using Qooid enjoy equal visibility and opportunities.

The aim is to concentrate the supply of creative and informative content within a single virtual space, Qooid, global point of reference for anyone either looking for content or for those wishing to give visibility to their own creations.
In fact, anyone can publish on Qooid, from amateur to professional, from the French pensioner with a passion for writing fairy tales, the young Thai photographing the beauty of their country, the young American singer-songwriter who writes lyrics to the South African producing graphics for websites: the only condition is that the works are shared in a digital format.

"Having noticed how for the human being it is essential to express themselves through creativity and the use of language, both verbal and written - says Federico Biondi, director and founder of Megamente, the developer company of the site - and having identified the absence of a portal able to manage and facilitate the exchange of creative and informative digital files, offering authors the opportunity to receive payment for their work, we felt the need to create a site capable of containing all the digital files possible, that is audio, video, images and text, allowing an exchange between web users".

On Qooid it's possible to publish text-based materials (poems, short stories, novels, screenplays, articles, essays), audio (songs, music beds, sound effects, audio interviews) videos (films, short films, documentaries, video clips, sequences of images) and visual (drawings, photographs, computer wallpapers).

"In choosing the name of the site, launched online on 6 October 2011 - Biondi continues - we focused on a neologism inspired by the language of the new millennium, drawing inspiration from two names that have entered the collective imagination: Google and Yahoo. Hence the idea for the double vowel O in place of U, in the "modern" version of the Latin word quid, a term used to describe "that something" unique and special that distinguishes every single person. Qooid is therefore an invitation to discover the "quid" present within each of us, to enrich this aspect through social interaction on the web and to share it easily with the world.
"In the days ahead - continues the director of Megamente - a further 20 thousand invites will be sent to professionals including videographers, video reporters, musicians, songwriters, music writers, poets, writers, essayists, journalists, script writers, photographers, web designers, graphic designers, illustrators and cartoonists, as well as bloggers, located in 124 nations of the world and, through social marketing operations, we will contact a further two million professionals of a similar genre".

STRENGTHS

The advantage of Qooid is that it offers a space for all types of materials, works and content regardless of their nature and quality. Qooid was not conceived to establish a competition for the best author or the most downloaded work. Quite simply, each user makes available to the global web community what they are able to produce, either for free or at a fee. On Qooid, the protagonists are the content and not who produces them. In fact it isn't a social network, in the common sense of the term, neither is it a simple acquisition. The added value of Qooid is essentially provided by the enhancement of creative brainstorming through the mechanism of the request for content, of groups of interest designed to bring together users with the express purpose of stimulating the creation of further material and tools for interaction (internal messaging, Favourites and Watching Lists).

METHOD OF USE

The language used on Qooid is English as it is by far the most widely spoken on the web and therefore ideal for the purposes of appealing to a global audience. This choice, however, does not exclude content being published on Qooid that is produced in other languages.
To those accessing for the first time, Qooid resembles a site where searches for materials are performed using keywords, similar to what happens on any search engine.
The only function available to non registered users is being able to search for content, registered users, groups, and requests for materials and what can be viewed is limited to previews of the complete information on the site. In order to see more details, visitors must register by completing a few simple fields such as name, surname, nickname (a kind of pseudonym) and e-mail address whereupon they will receive an e-mail confirming their registration. Once registered on the site, the user can use all the functions of Qooid and as such can provide their own "works" for free or at a fee and download or purchase the work of others. Where the user publishes their works, they may choose from six licences of use relating to how, where and when their material can be used by those who request it. The currency used for payment is the euro and the acceptable methods are PayPal (online payment system that avoids having to provide your bank details to strangers) and credit card. In the case of economic transactions, Qooid plays the role of intermediary between the author and the buyer.
