Videocon Telecom Offers Double Data; Aircel Expands Free Basic Internet to J&K
Attracting the youngsters and Internet geeks, Videocon Telecom has announced on Wednesday that the company is offering double data benefits to its subscribers.
India, November 24, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Attracting the youngsters and Internet geeks, Videocon Telecom has announced on Wednesday that the company is offering double data benefits to its subscribers. The offer will be valid on all standard data packs by default.
However, the catch here is that the double data benefit will be applicable at night hours (12:00 AM to 7:00 AM) on all the data packs starting from Rs. 13 to Rs. 251, offering bundled data of 120 MB to 3GB respectively.
According to the reports coming from the company, around 20 percent of data is consumed during night by the youths and is growing on monthly basis. Also, 17 percent of the Internet users consume around 50 percent of data pack during night hours. The reason behind this could be lesser load on bandwidth, which results in a better downloading speed.
“Data is the growth engine for the telecom industry, and it is imperative that there is enough and more traction on data offerings for customer engagement. Our double data offer is an initiative in the same direction. We are confident that this initiative will help us accelerate our data growth,” Arvind Bali, Director and CEO, Videocon Telecom, said. “Now if a customer has subscribed to 1 GB data pack, he or she can use another 1 GB during night hours which is starting midnight to 7 AM without paying extra money. Last year we grew our data business by 126 per cent. This initiative along with other micro-marketing initiatives on data will for sure help us surpass our growth of last year.”
Besides this, Aircel has expanded its ‘Free Basic Internet’ service to Jammu and Kashmir for new customers along with offering a new data pack, unlimited 3G Internet access for Rs. 9 per day. With the ‘Free Basic Internet’ scheme, Aircel provides a download speed up to 64 kbps, which enables the users to access e-mails, instant messengers for text messages and access to some basic websites.
“We firmly believe that Internet is for all and through our constant efforts of innovating products and services, we aim to make Aircel a gateway to the Internet for many,” Aircel’s Regional Business Head for North, Anil Gupta said. Earlier, the firm had started serving the same facility in Tamil Naidu and later in Chennai.
The Aircel’s Free Basic Internet scheme is totally different from ‘Free Basics by Facebook’. By its free Internet scheme, the company is offering free low-speed Internet access to its subscribers without any discrimination. But the problem with Free Basics by Facebook is that it only allows access to few websites, which are under control of the social media giant.
