Tattoo Projects Advertising Agency Delivers Client a 'Kick in the Beanz'

Sheetz, Inc. revamps coffee line with bold creative from agency of record

Charlotte-based advertising agency Tattoo Projects led last week’s launch of a new coffee lineup for nine-year client-partner Sheetz, Inc.

The creative agency, best known for its bold work, reinvented Sheetz Bros. Coffeez® through a cross-channel campaign ranging from digital, broadcast, social media, outdoor and in-store creative assets, including a 30-second TV spot and microsite, www.kickinthebeanz.com, alluding to the brand’s “Quality Just Got a Kick in the Beanz” campaign.

More than 500 Sheetz locations now offer the improved self-serve coffee, which comes in four blends (Breakfast, Classic, Sumatra and French) and 17 creamer and flavor choices for guests.

“We can always rely on Tattoo Projects to deliver creative that is exciting and unexpected,” said Tammy Dunkley, Sheetz Manager Brand Communications and Advertising. “’Kick in the Beanz’ has generated a dynamic conversation for us to introduce the world to Sheetz Bros. Coffeez®.”

Sheetz first engaged its agency of record in March to redesign its in-store coffee dispenser graphics, ultimately evolving into Tattoo developing a complete campaign to establish a coffee house identity for the brand. According to a Sheetz press release, beyond the new beans and flavors, “every store has new, state-of-the-art grinding and brewing equipment and trained baristas. The coffee features four signature blends with a light to dark progression, freshly ground in every store and served in a new environmentally friendly cup.”

Blackboard chalk design animates into life in Tattoo’s creative, featuring exotic imagery including mountain goats and jungle predators to drive home the brand’s journey to uncover quality coffee beans.

“’Kick in the Beanz’ is a blend of traditional chalkboard art you would find at your corner café with a flavor shot of attitude Sheetz customers are accustom to” said Rudy Banny, Tattoo Projects CEO and Creative Director. “Consumers are having a lot of fun creating and sharing content following their first taste, and it’s been a rewarding process to follow the results.”

As part of the campaign, Sheetz is awarding Instagram users who post a photo featuring the new coffee and #KickintheBeanz with $50 gift cards on a random basis. Visit www.kickinthebeanz.com to learn more.
