Air Passenger Experience Reimagined at 2015 APEX EXPO

Sales for 2016 EXPO in Singapore Exceeding Expectations

Smarter luggage transport options, a middle seat experience that trumps the aisle, and a la carte entertainment are just a few ways exhibitors at 2015 APEX EXPO are reinventing the passenger experience. Showcasing the newest technology and service models, this year’s EXPO in Portland, Ore. – hosted by the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) – drew nearly 3,000 attendees, including representatives from more than 70 global airlines.

A joint collaboration between APEX and the International Flight Services Association (IFSA), EXPO’s expansive tradeshow floor covered the entire passenger experience including Comfort & Ambiance, Entertainment & Connectivity, and Catering & Services for every passenger class. Excitement around this year’s three-day event built momentum heading into 2016 as tech and seat companies, service providers, movie studios and other vendors locked-in exhibit space at next year’s event in Singapore. More than 80 percent of trade show space already sold a full year ahead 2016 APEX EXPO.

“Walking around the trade show floor, you experience the evolution of passenger travel, as members bring passengers faster inflight Internet connectivity and smarter use of seating space for a relaxing flight,” said APEX CEO Joe Leader. “EXPO highlights the ways APEX members are leading the industry with rapidly evolving service models that give flight crews the tools they need to customize the entire flight experience; even down to the subtle lighting adjustments that improve passenger mood during travel.”

APEX EXPO kicked off with a full day of riveting speeches and panel discussions by some of the airline industry’s most forward-thinking minds. Hosted by Rajan Datar of BBC World News, The Travel Show, speakers shared their visions for the future of the passenger experience covering such industry-moving subjects as the potential for door-to-door luggage delivery, enhanced cabin environments and more. The impressive roster of speakers included:

  • Werner Lieberherr, President & CEO,  B/E Aerospace Inc.
  • Rainer von Borstel, CEO, Diehl Aerosystems
  • Rakhita Jayawardena, CEO, SriLankan Airlines
  • Sandy Stelling, Managing Director, Customer Research and Development, Alaska Airlines
  • Devin Liddell, Principal Strategist, TEAGUE

EXPO is APEX’s flagship event, as well as the largest industry-driven event of its kind in the world, with 2016 APEX EXPO will take place Oct. 24-27 in Singapore.  In addition to its yearly EXPO, APEX hosts multiple industry gatherings around the world and will land in Singapore this year, November 16-17, for APEX Asia Conference.
