IT Security Specialists Launch New Mobile Device Management Website

Berkshire-based IT Security Specialists launch a new website designed to be an independent Mobile Device Management (MDM) Knowledge Portal

The past year has seen increasing demand by corporations for Mobile Device Management (MDM) solutions and enormous growth in the area from a number of major providers. As with any new technology area there is a range of options available at different levels of maturity and offering different functionality, from both well-established vendors of other types of IT software and new companies specialising in MDM.

To a large extent, the growth in MDM has been driven by employees wanting access to business data from their mobile devices and with the growth of smartphones and tablets for personal use, particularly Apple's iPhone and iPad, employees want the same familiar and easy-to-use capabilities for accessing work data on the move or when working away from the office. These expectations are going far beyond the traditional access to emails, contacts and calendars that have been available with Blackberrys for over a decade, to also accessing corporate data, reports and applications, with all the additional security issues this entails. Many organisations are offering mobile devices not just to senior executives, but also to more and more employees previously not eligible for corporate-owned mobile devices to take advantage of increased employee productivity but also to ease the administration and management burden whilst at the same time controlling and securing their confidential data.

Where employees are not entitled to a corporate device they are often willing to purchase their own device in order to reap the benefits of using it for business. This trend is prompting many organisations to set up a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) policy as part of their Mobile Device Management (MDM) strategy in order to be able to secure and control all devices accessing their networks.

Specialist IT Security reseller AVR International, based in Berkshire, has grown in the 10 years since it was formed to dominate their field. More recently with the rapid growth of Mobile Device Management they have extended their areas of expertise to become one of the UK leaders in selling, installing and supporting a range of MDM solutions from all of the major vendors. AVR have seized the opportunity to become a thought leader in this growing area and offer impartial, independent advice about MDM products from all of the major vendors, as well as a forum for knowledge-sharing and a blog with up-to-date news and advice about MDM and BYOD, all under-pinned by their experience of multiple implementations of MDM solutions for a variety of organisations of all sizes.

Helen Hall, Founder and Managing Director of AVR International Ltd, remarked "We understood the need for a Knowledge Base that would suit the diverse requirements of companies of all sizes at different stages of their path to a fully implemented MDM solution. By offering independent advice we have been able to help a range of companies to achieve the most suitable MDM solution for their specific needs from both a technical and commercial perspective as we recognise the importance of good value in the current economic climate. AVR has experience implementing a range of solutions from different vendors and the flexibility to offer the solution most suited to a company's particular needs. The lack of truly impartial expert advice on mobile device management was a significant factor in our decision to establish a new website that promises to be the thought leader in this space."
