Announcing Auditions for the 2011-12 North Texas Youth Orchestra
Auditions currently open for all sections to youth 14-18 years.
Online, June 16, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Auditions for the 2011-2012 North Texas Youth Orchestra is being held July 9, 2011. Auditions are currently open for all sections. Students who will be in grades 7-12 in the fall are eligible to audition for the North Texas Youth Orchestra. Musicians must have a minimum of three years of orchestral or band experience and/or private music instruction.
The North Texas Youth Orchestra presents an average of five concerts each season. In addition to performances our activities include outreach programs in the Plano/Collin County area including an instrument petting zoo to debut this fall at the Plano Balloon Festival.
The North Texas Youth Orchestra is a 2011 recipient of the Young Strings "Grace Note" Award. Young Strings recognizes and nurtures musical talents which can lead to educational opportunities that might otherwise be denied. Young Strings also often introduces classical music to families not a traditionally touched by the art form.

Auditions consist of a prepared solo (minimum of three minutes), a threeâ€octave major and minor scales and arpeggio of your choice. The prepared solo, scales and arpeggio need not be memorized. Accompanists are not required. Audition will be scheduled and emailed to applicant and parent.
Led by Music Director and Principal Conductor Julianne Booth, North Texas Youth Orchestra (NTYO) provides opportunities for young musicians to serve their community, enrich lives through the performance of music, elevate the awareness of the arts throughout North Texas and motivate young adults to excel as musicians and community members. NTYO is a community service oriented; non-profit full orchestra serving young musicians between the ages of 14 to 18.
