Valleyfair Amusement Park in Shakopee, Minn. will unveil its newest attraction, Planet Snoopy, when it opens its doors for the 2011 season on Saturday, May 14 at
10 a.m.

The new $9 million, 3.5 acre Planet Snoopy will feature over 20 PEANUTS-themed rides and attractions, including the PEANUTS Playhouse, Snoopy Boutique and Planet Grill. From the Kite Eating Tree to Sally's Swing Set; Snoopy's Rocket Express to Charlie Brown's Wind Up; Linus Launcher to the PEANUTS 500; there is sure to be something fun for everyone in the family to enjoy.

The arrival of Planet Snoopy to the park is fitting because it was Minnesota native, Charles Schulz, who introduced the PEANUTS characters to the country in 1950. "We consider it an honor to welcome Snoopy and his friends to Valleyfair," says Larry MacKenzie, Vice President and General Manager for Valleyfair.

Guests will be able to meet the PEANUTS characters daily with Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Lucy, Linus and Sally, as they wander around their new park. The PEANUTS gang will entertain kids of all ages with "Charlie Brown's HOEDOWN" --- a show filled with music, fun, and surprises --- each day in the PEANUTS Showplace and catch a bite before the park opens with the Gang at the character breakfasts beginning June 4.

In addition to Planet Snoopy, Valleyfair guests can enjoy a myriad of 75 rides and attractions for all ages, including seven roller coasters such as Steel Venom, Wild Thing and Renegade; Soak City Waterpark; Challenge Park; larger-than-life movies in the Pepsi IMAX® Theatre; and live musical and performance entertainment throughout the park.
