JENN-JENN has released a Hip Hop tribute song to honor the legendary basketball coach Pat Summitt entitled "We Back Pat" on on May 08, 2012. Known mostly for her soul-infused Hip Hop love songs, this California Hip Hop MC has written a different type of love song that will get the listeners involved in a good cause.

Though she has been keeping a low profile during the production of her upcoming album, JENN-JENN felt it necessary to take a break from that project and share her musical testimony about her life-long mentor as soon as she heard the news that Pat Summitt was stepping down as head coach due to her diagnosis of early-onset dementia. Influenced not only by her love and respect for the legendary coach, but also her personal experience with close relatives who have suffered from Alzheimer's disease, she wrote a song that addresses the role Coach Summitt plays in the lives of many people that look up to her. She also found a way to delicately touch on the Alzheimer's topic to assure Pat Summitt that she has a team of people to support and back her - hence the "We Back Pat."

"Sometimes you'll have trouble remembering/ But we're your seeds and we'll never forget how you/ Taught us to water ourselves/ To become flowers ourselves/ You have a garden of love here to Remind you."

The single has already received the support of several celebrity athletes and professional basketball legends such as Chamique Holdsclaw, a 3-time NCAA Women's Basketball champion and WNBA star who played under Pat Summitt. Holdsclaw posted a screen shot of the "We Back Pat" iTunes download on her Twitter profile for her followers to see. Retweets about the single have been flooding Twitter including a few from basketball player Daniel Artest who called for his followers to download the song and followed those tweets with a statement aimed at JENN-JENN's twitter page - "It's awesome to see someone that won't sell out." - Referring to JENN-JENN's commitment to release music that is meaningful, not just marketable.

Proceeds from "We Back Pat" will be donated to the Pat Summitt Foundation to help with Alzheimer's research. The artist is teaming up with former players from the University of Tennessee and other sports figures to spread the word about the song in hopes of generating a significant amount of downloads so that when the oversized donation check is presented to the foundation, there is an oversize amount of money going towards the cause as well.
