Yoga Studio Makes It Possible for Everybody to Feel OM-Azing

Evolution's next community event/project is the Evolution Yoga Project(EPY). Evolution believes yoga is a vehicle for creating sustainable community transformation and want to provide community-wide access to learning in order to empower and inspire individuals to become agents of positive social change.

Lisa Taylor (CVO) and Julie Mathers(COO) of Evolution Power Yoga have taken the practice of yoga and made it possible for everyone to become "yogis". They make their business translatable to everyone. For instance, earlier this year they started the Downward Doggie club so students without childcare can practice yoga and bring their kids while they practice. They also offer various workshops that cater to people with specific interests and find a way to introduce yoga to all sorts of hobbies. ‪On February 28th they are running a "Yoga for Golfers" workshop. And for those who are budget conscious Evolution offers community classes that are free (with a request for a charity donation) so that everyone has the opportunity to spend time on a mat.

EYP is structured based on the Africa Yoga Project, Kenya. AYP empowers young people in Kenya’s urban slums through yoga, innovating a replicable model that creates jobs, improves health, and develops leaders.
EYP is a dual-faceted learning outreach program targeting demographics currently under-represented within the local yoga market. Evolution’s mission is to provide simple, accessible, affordable, and sustainable pathways for physical, mental, and spiritual learning that empowers individuals to become agents of social change within their respective community.
EYP offers two services which include the EYP Scholarship and the EYP Free Community Meal Classes. The scholarship is a bi-annual Scholarship Program for (de)VELOP Teacher Training Programs. Scholarships will be funded through a diversified portfolio of professional and personal endowments and applicants will be reviewed by the EYP Board of Directors and approved by (de) VELOP teachers beyond training. EYP Scholarship recipients will receive ongoing Mentorship. The multi-faceted body of learning provides a skillet that can be transferred into any domain of life, personal and professional. Yoga classes hosted at local community facilities taught by EYP Teachers in Training including Scholarship recipients. Community meals served in conjunction with class. The primary goal of these classes is to engage under-represented demographics through the offering of cost-effective, easily accessible yoga classes.
Financially EYP is funded by diversified funding. A cornerstone sponsor will cover the cost to train four teachers in a training program. Donations are accepted on various monetary levels from $25 to $3500. In-kind donations include hard goods, food, snacks, yoga clothing. Financing will also come from Community Classes every other month.
