WELT Corp Reveals the World's First Smart Belt With New Features at CES 2019

WELT Corp Will Launch the World's First Smart Belt at CES 2019

The Korean-based tech startup WELT Corp has announced it will unveil the world’s first smart belt with new interactive features at the 2019 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, taking place from Jan. 8-11.

WELT is the first smart belt that allows men and women to monitor their body, health, waist size, overeating and physical activity. The leather belt uses Bluetooth to communicate data from the belt buckle to any smartphone.

WELT takes the health tech industry to an entirely new level with its customized plans for fitness goals. We will also announce at CES a collaboration with a French luxury brand for our future belt designs.

Sean Kang, CEO and Co-Founder WELT

An observational study in 2018 by NYU and Cornell researchers found men who wore the belt for 12 weeks decreased their waist size by .776 inches.

In addition, WELT will introduce at CES a new feature - fall risk assessment - that can prevent and predict falls for people who are at risk of falls from health conditions.

WELT’s mobile app provides users with a comprehensive analysis with insight and warnings to help them meet their fitness goals. With its push alerts and notifications, the belt reminds the belt wearer to get up when they’re sitting too long, eating too much or even when they need more exercise.

The CEO and co-founder of WELT Corp, Sean Kang, MD, says the company will have a booth at CES to demonstrate the smart belt and introduce its new updates, including the fall risk assessment.

“WELT takes the health tech industry to an entirely new level with its customized plans for fitness goals," said Kang. “We will also announce at CES a collaboration with a French luxury brand for our future belt designs.”

WELT will be at booth 44143 at CES. Consumers can test the smart belt and ask WELT Corp any questions they might have about it.

“We will demonstrate many of our new software updates, including the fall risk assessment that can help the elderly or consumers who are at risk of falls," said Kang. "We will also have some big news on the French fashion partnerships we have formed."

The World’s First Smart Belt - Award Recognition

Healthcare professionals, programmers and consumers have all recognized WELT’s technology for its innovative technology.

Channel 11 in New York City recently ran a segment on WELT, demonstrating how the technology is helping New Yorkers keep the holiday weight off. The popular tech review site Inversion also reviewed WELT, saying "Welt stylishly keeps your pants from falling while tracking your waist size, distance walked, time spent sitting, calories burned, and when you’ve eaten too much."

In December 2017, The Korean Medical Academic Association awarded WELT first place for its healthcare solution. Two months earlier, WELT won the Good Design Award and took first place at a Korean crowdfunding (WADIZ) competition with the Best Maker Prize.

Born2Global, a major Korean government agency under the Ministry of Science, is also throwing its support behind WELT with funding, business advice and advocacy with the international business market.

WELT is already sold at physical and popular online stores in Korea and Japan, including Amazon and others.

Preorders for WELT are already available in the USA with the official retail launch taking place at CES.
