UKBA Announces New English Language Proficiency Requirements For Partners
Online, December 30, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The UK Border Agency has announced it is to introduce a requirement to speak English language for migrants who apply to enter or extend their stay in the UK as partners of settled persons or British citizen in the United Kingdom from 17 November 2010. As such an applicant under this category must demonstrate that they can speak and understand English.
The category of applicants affected includes;
• Nationals of countries outside of the European Economic Area and Switzerland
• Applicants in relationships with settled persons and British citizens in the United Kingdom
• Applicants applying to join or remain with spouses, civil partners, fiances (ees), proposed civil partner, unmarried or same-sex partners living in the United Kingdom
