Prior to joining CSA Research, he was the Director of Open Standards for the former Localization Industry Standards Association (LISA). During his time at LISA, he conducted research into various aspects of translation and localization business and technology, including work on crowsdourcing, standards, technology usage, and country-specific business practices. After leaving LISA, he headed up the GALA Standards Initiative, and then worked for the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Berlin, Germany. At DFKI Arle worked in a variety of EU- and industry-funded projects dealing with language technology and quality assessment.
