Tampa Bay Film Producer Seeks Support For "Pyrite"
Start-up Tampa Bay film production company is seeking support for Pyrite, a western based in an 1800s mining town.
Safety Harbor, FL, March 9, 2015 (Newswire.com) - Josey Greyson is a hardened cowboy who must atone for a lifetime of gambling and crime by saving his small mining town on the brink of bankruptcy. With the help of a local genius and social outcast, he hopes to thwart the interest of the most deadly, notorious group of criminals in history and save his beloved small town from extinction.
That's the storyline for Pyrite, a script written by Tampa Bay film producer Justin Russo. Russo's startup company, Flicker City Productions, has hired some top local talent in the Gulf Coast area to lay the groundwork for this film concept. Russo is seeking national support for Pyrite through a recently released Kickstarter campaign.
The set for Pyrite is a professionally-produced Western town set called Dry Creek. It's located in the heart of Manatee County in Parish, Florida and comes complete with horses, wagons, costumes, and props. The set is available for film makers and is the perfect setting for the Pyrite movie.
"Dry Creek is how we can make a full-feature film right here in the Tampa community," explained Russo. "We will employ local talent, seek major national actors, and direct the eye of Hollywood on a moderate budget."
On why he got into film making: "I want to make films that make us feel what it was like to feel those exhilarating initial feelings the first time. The rush of adrenaline you felt the first time you did something deadly and lived to tell about it. The first time you kissed someone," explained Russo. "These emotions make up the whole of who we are. They are the core of what we try to control and evoke daily to bring about the reactions that made us feel alive the first and/or last time we felt them."
The Kickstarter campaign, with a goal of $6,000, was opened last week. The goal is to create a short promotional film that can be utilized to attract 'name' talent to the movie. Contributors of $100 or more have the opportunity to appear as an extra in the film on the set of Dry Creek.
