SYBO Games Partners With Danish-Based Games Studio Funday Factory

Latest Strategic Move Positions Company for Continued Market Growth

SYBO Games, the company behind the mobile game phenom Subway Surfers, named the second most downloaded game of 2018, announced today a strategic partnership with Funday Factory, a Danish-based games studio behind more than 25 titles including Axe in Face 2, Spellbinders and Hama Universe. The move comes on the heels of the appointment of David Byrne as SYBO Games new Chief Operating Officer and illustrates the company’s ambitious plans for growth in the overall mobile games space.

“From our humble Danish-beginning, our work and forward-thinking culture, an incredibly creative and quality team, plus a mutual strategic vision on what is the mobile game experience, we share an uncanny familiarity with Funday Factory,” said Mathias Gredal Norvig, SYBO Games’ Chief Executive Officer. “This partnership further positions us both to expand our reach, drive growth and market share.”

“We’re so fortunate to have a neighbor – and a new partner in SYBO Games,” said Kristian Bang Nørgaard, Chief Officer Funday Factory. “We are teaming up with the best within the games industry and together have our eye on developing titles for the global market.”

“Our partnership builds on a long-lasting relationship and a great amount of trust,” said Anders Leicht Rohde, Funday Factory founder. “For the past year, we’ve shifted from primarily developing marketing games to a focus on revenue games. With SYBO’s guidance, we will be primed to strategically develop epic and engaging games, and have a wider understanding of how to enter the market.”

Funday Factory will be soft launching its first IP title, Bullet League, this quarter.

The deal with Funday Factory represents the first partnership under Byrne’s helm as COO, as he sets the course for strategy and operations, strengthening the Subway Surfers gaming roadmap, and developing the right teams for additional games, genres and intellectual properties. Byrne’s extensive gaming background over almost 25 years in the industry includes COO posts at NaturalMotion, Rovio, Playfish and Electronic Arts UK.

Boasting over 2.1 billion downloads in its six-year history, SYBO Games’ world-trotting Subway Surfers was the second most downloaded mobile game of 2018, behind newcomer, hyper-casual game Helix Jump. It was the first game to cross one billion downloads and the most downloaded game ever in Google Play’ s 10-year history, and the most downloaded endless runner game in the App Store’s history.
