Subaru Announce Anticipated Extended Use of CVTs
Online, February 4, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Continuously variable transmission or CVT is a system which allows the transmission to change through a vast range of gear ratios seamlessly. This allows the transmission to maintain a constant velocity which can provide the most efficient RPM range. This can ensure better fuel economy and maximise vehicle performance.
Currently this technology is only available in one large Subaru vehicle; the Liberty. However, with regards to the Subaru Forrester, Perth customers interested in this model may find that Subaru will extend the use of CVTs into this and other vehicles in the range.
The CVT technology is currently used in a belt format for Subaru's series of mini cars which have been available in the Japanese market for a great number of years. However, the introduction of the CVT into the Liberty, marked a bold step of introducing CVTs into larger models of vehicle. Subaru are said to be considering extending the use of CVTs throughout their range of vehicle models but they maintain that they have not created a plan of which models will be developed with this new technology.
However, when considering the Subaru Forester, Perth car drivers need not feel disappointed, as industry experts anticipate that all Subaru models will be available with CVT versions over the next two years. The CVT model of the Exiga is set to be launched later in the year for the Australian market. However, next in line is anticipated to be the Subaru Forester. Perth car enthusiasts should not have to wait long until they can see the CVT version for themselves.
