Space Tech Conference Free to Attend as the Major Industry Event Launches in California

For those working in or connected to the space industry, Space Tech Expo USA has long provided a launchpad for top-level networking and new technology discovery, but 2020 promises bigger and better things - among them a move to Long Beach, California and, for the first time ever, a completely free-to-attend conference.

What to expect at Space Tech Expo

Space Tech Expo USA has long provided a launchpad for top-level networking and new technology discovery, but 2020 promises bigger and better things – among them a move to Long Beach, California and, for the first time ever, a completely free-to-attend conference.

The conference focus this year rests on building the bridges between commercial space, national security, exploration, and science. Expert speakers will take the stage to discuss key developments in the U.S. space industry from national security, (Lunar) exploration, and commercial development vantage points.

Day one of the conference takes delegates orbital as speakers from NASA, Made In Space, and Rocket Lab explore the re-establishment of Lunar missions and what’s required to succeed, from successful partnerships to satellite servicing. National security is on the agenda, with a session on leveraging commercial technology and rapid innovation for U.S. national security to enable a safe environment.

On the second day, Space Tech Conference comes back down to Earth, training the spotlight on the manufacturing and space system optimization technologies required to ensure rapid development of a secure, sustainable in-space ecosystem. Industry experts from The Boeing Company, GE Additive AddWorks, Lockheed Martin Space, and Northrop Grumman will tackle communication technologies, additive manufacturing, and optimized manufacturing processes.

The two-day conference runs across two main tracks: Collaborators & Innovators and Technology Enablers. A packed menu of sessions within the former includes securing the future of the U.S. in space, leveraging commercial technology, and enhancing missions with AI and autonomous systems, plus panels on accomplishing large formats and standards qualification agreements to realize fast integral space system design and shaping innovation in an increasingly commercial space environment. Meanwhile, the Technology Enablers track features deep dives into testing in a time of new designs, providing specialty components for high-end missions with precision machining and selecting COTS versus custom-built electrical systems for all missions.

This year also welcomes the introduction of Tech Talks and Showcases. Hosted on the Technology Innovation Stage, these sessions will focus on specific technologies required to ensure reliable, sustainable space systems. Among these are sessions on advancing robotics, utilizing smart manufacturing and rapid fabrication to reduce production times, and going farther in space with advanced materials, which explores how properties can be optimized for resilient and affordable space-grade applications.

With Space Tech Conference running alongside the hugely popular Space Tech Expo, which takes place May 19-20, delegates will also gain access to more than 300 exhibitors from across the entire space supply chain. View the full agenda here and register for your free pass here.
