SoftInWay to Sponsor University of Laval Formula SAE Team for 2015
Burlington, MA, December 18, 2014 (Newswire.com) - SoftInWay Inc. has donated its turbomachinery design and analysis software to the University of Laval Racing team to aid with their participation in several competitions next year. The Formula SAE team of the University of Laval consists of 40 engineering students. Each year, they are tasked with designing, building, and racing a formula-style race car that is powered by an electrical motor.
SoftInWay has donated educational versions of its software, AxSTREAM EDU, to aid the team in developing an axial fan that will increase the performance of the engine’s cooling system. The software will allow the team to simulate the fan, test its efficiency, and ultimately make design improvements before manufacturing.
“We are very excited to be playing a role in the University of Laval Formula SAE team’s car design,” said SoftInWay COO Valentine Moroz, “AxSTREAM will provide the capabilities needed to design, simulate, and improve machine components, and ultimately manufacture an automobile with speed and efficiency.” SoftInWay has begun to work more with automotive companies, expanding its design and analysis capabilities to turbochargers and waste heat recovery systems.
The ULaval team plans to participate in five competitions in 2015: Formula North (Ontario, Canada), Formula Student Germany (FSG0, Toronto Shootout, Formula Student Austria (FSA), and Formula Student Czech Republic. The team will race the top teams in Europe, Canada, and the US.
AxSTREAM and its versions of AxSTREAM EDU and AxSTREAM Lite are currently being used by over 40 universities and 3,000 students worldwide. The software enables students to go beyond the diagram phase of projects to create full-view, three-dimensional machine components.
