Sandra P. Greenblatt, MBA HA, JD, Partner, Lubell Rosen, LLC
Greenblatt has received numerous awards and recognitions over the course of her career. She enjoys the “AV-Preeminent” highest rating in competence and ethics from Martindale-Hubbell®, an AVVO Rating of 100 (Superb) and was awarded the 2014 Health Law Attorney of the Year-Florida Global Award by Corporate International magazine. She has been named one of the “Top Lawyers in South Florida” each year from 2000 to 2016 by the South Florida Legal Guide, a “Florida Super Lawyer” by Law & Politics each year from 2006 to 2014 and in 2016, and has been named as a member of Legal Elite from 2005 to 2009 and in 2011 by Florida Trend Magazine.
With over 30 years dedicated to law, Greenblatt brings a wealth of knowledge to her industry, particularly to her area of specialization, health law. Before receiving her law degree, Greenblatt worked in the healthcare industry in administrative roles for several years. After working for the New York State Medicaid program in policy development, she made the move to Miami, Florida, where she became a Hospital Administrator for the 1200 bed University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center. When asked why she decided to transition to a career in law, Greenblatt said:
"I saw the rapid growth and the tremendously important role of healthcare in our society, so I went back to school and got an MBA in Health Administration so I could be better suited to help those dedicated to the industry and those they serve. Eventually, I decided I wanted to be on the advisory side of the table, so I went to law school to get my Juris Doctor."
As a thought-leader in her industry, Greenblatt is keenly aware of ascendant trends. In particular, she notes the rise of for-profit hospitals and the effects managed care has had on the industry. She noted:
"When I initially started practicing health law, our clients were generally non-profit hospitals. But with the creation and growth of for-profit hospitals and all the consolidation in that industry, there came a greater need on the physician and ambulatory care side for good health law representation. These developments also led to changes in reimbursement, which was further affected by the creation of HMOs. I had the opportunity to be involved in the licensing of the first Florida HMO and the creation of the first HMO regulations in Florida. I saw their impact on both providers and patients, which continues to evolve today. What I like best about health law is its constantly changing nature and the challenges that it presents to my clients and to me."
Greenblatt is a member of the American Health Lawyers’ Association, The American Bar Association, and The Florida Bar Health Law Section. She is a Fellow of the American Bar Foundation. She is also a member of the American Health Lawyers’ Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Service, where she is available to mediate and arbitrate healthcare related disputes. She served as an appointee to the Statewide HMO Advisory Committee to the Florida Department of Insurance, which assisted in creating the first HMO regulations in Florida.
