Registration for Biddy Basketball League Is Now Open

Open to youths ages 6-14, volunteer coaches are also sought

For youth who want to learn to play basketball or hone their skills, the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica (BGCSM) is offering its Biddy Basketball program from Jan. 11 – Mar. 19. The league is open to boys and girls ages 6-14. All practices and games are held at the Club, 1238 Lincoln Blvd., Santa Monica. Practices will be weekly and games will be scheduled Monday through Friday between 4-8 p.m.

The Biddy Basketball program is geared for youth of all skills levels. The youngest members, those ages 6-8, play in a coed league that emphasizes the fundamentals of the game, including passing, dribbling and shooting. Older youth, ages 9-14, are separated into boys or girls leagues with various skill levels, including developmental, advanced and elite. Every child who registers will be placed on a team.

The league is also seeking volunteer coaches. Coaches are asked to have some experience coaching youth, commit a minimum of three hours per week between the hours of 4-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, and pass a background check.

The Biddy Basketball program is open to BGCSM members at a cost of $50, with payment plans available. Membership to the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica is $20 annually.
