The University of Guelph has announced REELY as the official provider of real-time clips, highlights, and condensed games for the 2019 season. This partnership will empower the university to create and distribute short-form content to boost social engagement and provide fans with dynamic content faster than ever before. This news is the latest in a string of REELY partnerships at the collegiate level including the PrestoSports, the NAIA, the Missouri Valley Conference, and the Canada West Conference.

The REELY platform uses proprietary computer vision-based highlight detection to make creating and sharing videos easier than ever before. Content is automatically created in an instant and can be shared across social channels and team websites with a single click.

“This technology will allow us to spotlight our varsity teams in a new and efficient way by distributing highlights instantly to our fans. The automation of video content is integral to our social media strategy because of its powerful ability to inform our fans and incite emotion,” said Michelle Pino, Assistant Manager of Marketing and Communications.

“Our customers want to reach fans by showcasing the amazing moments from their student-athletes,” said Ian Stephens, CMO, and Co-Founder of REELY. “There is an unprecedented demand for short-form content but creating that content is costly and time-intensive. With our platform, customers can easily curate and share the best highlights from multiple simultaneous events in real-time – effectively giving one person the power of a professional editing team.”

In the past six months, REELY has added over 85 college teams to its rapidly expanding customer list. The AI-based platform works across a broad range of field and court sports including basketball, football, soccer, baseball, softball, volleyball, lacrosse, and hockey.

The University of Guelph Gryphons feature 31 varsity sports. In 2018-19 the Gryphons won three national U SPORTS titles and were the most successful program in the country. At Guelph, you’ll enjoy a wide range of varsity athletics, clubs and

organizations. Our nationally and internationally recognized programs are a source of campus pride. We stress the importance of balancing academics and athletics. Many of our student-athletes are excellent examples of this balance, as 155 individuals earned U SPORTS Academic All-Canadian or OUA Academic Achievement Awards last year for achieving an 80% or greater academic average while participating in provincial- or national-level university sport.
