After days of rigorous intellectual competition, the Rancho Solano Academic Olympiad Team returned to their home state of Arizona with the 2011 championship trophy. All members of the Rancho Solano team received either Gold or Silver medals in their individual competitions, and the team walked away with the Gold medal in the Quiz Bowl.
Although they had a strong lead early on, the contestants truly shone in the competition through their respect and consideration for all participants throughout the entire weekend. Because of their team spirit and propriety, they made great friends with students from their sister schools and left a wonderful impression. And it did not go unnoticed. The emcee at the awards ceremony made it a point to congratulate the team on what gracious winners they were, which was truly the high point of the week. Karan Khosla was also awarded the Good Sportsmanship Award, just another tribute to the positive attitude relayed by the Rancho Solano contestants.
Congratulations to the students of Rancho Solano Preparatory School on their achievements, to Rancho chaperone and coach Jessica Holloway, and to all participating schools.
