President and CEO, Jay Marwaha, Appoints Kirk D. Borne, Ph.D. as First SYNTASA Advisory Board Member

Online, April 30, 2014 (Newswire.com) - SYNTASA is proud and honored to name multidisciplinary data scientist and George Mason University Professor Dr. Kirk Borne as the first member of the company's Advisory Board. Dr. Borne's extensive experience in big data and data science, including expertise in scientific data mining and data systems, will help guide SYNTASA in providing focused Marketing Analytic solutions.

Dr. Borne, recently named a Big Data and Analytics Hero by IBM, is a professor of Astrophysics and Computational Science at GMU since 2003, where he researches, teaches, and advises students in the graduate and undergraduate Data Science, Informatics, and Computational Science programs. He also helped to create the GMU Data Science B.S. degree program that launched in 2007. Previously, he spent nearly 20 years in positions supporting NASA projects, including an assignment as NASA's Data Archive Project Scientist for the Hubble Space Telescope, and as Project Manager in NASA's Space Science Data Operations Office.

SYNTASA will leverage the Advisory Board to grow expertise in marketing analytics, data science, predictive modeling, and management of big data sets. The Board will help steer the company on its path in creating big data analytic solutions using open source technology.

Dr. Borne serves on several national and international advisory boards and journal editorial boards related to big data. In these roles, he focuses on achieving big discoveries from big data, and he promotes the use of information and data-centric experiences with big data in the STEM education pipeline at all levels.
