Post Conference Report - 2010 International Conference - Social Enterprise of Employment for Disability

More than 300 practitioners from a number of Taiwan-based organizations packed the meeting hall which hosted the conference themed "innovation, efficiency and sustainability " by Children Are Us Foundation of Taiwan.

( AsiaToday )- Taipei, Taiwan - More than 300 practitioners from a number of Taiwan-based organizations packed the meeting hall which hosted the conference themed "innovation, efficiency and sustainability ". Through in-depth exchanges, participants discussed about the workplaces at which disabled people are currently working, and the challenges that they are facing on the daily basis.

Participants examined actual cases, and came up with new ideas from analyzing both theories and facts, and brainstormed innovative employment models . As expected by most, this conference would help push forward the sustainable development of employment to benefit the mentally challenged people in Taiwan.

During the two-day conference, the guest speakers from various fields not only shared tips and techniques, but solicited and answered questions from the participants in audience as well. In retrospect, the conference was a mix of inspiring presentations, enthusiastic discussions and interactions, and exchanges of diverse views amongst all participants.

People have become aware that the endeavors of sustainable employment for the IDs have gained ever more attention from the society. Children Are Us Foundation meant to use this event to promote social enterprise and the undertaking of nonprofit service organizations, to steer project execution in a right direction for the advancement of Taiwan's social welfare enterprise.

[About Children Are Us Foundation]
The Foundation was initiated by a group of parents of ID and founded in 1995 in Kaohsiung City, Taiwan. The founders shared a common goal which was to provide long term care to senior ID. Today the missions include safeguarding the dignity of ID, educating them, and providing them with long term care. The Foundation runs bakeries and restaurants which provide assisted employment to ID, organizes numerous programs to provide them with educational activities. Currently the Foundation has embarked on an assisted nursing home project for senior IDs.
