Oklahoma homebuilder Homes by Taber is committed to building community first by not only building homes but supporting the non-profits around them. Homes by Taber is aware of the lack of fundraising opportunities charities have suffered from in the past two years. Starting in 2021 to help combat the strain local charities have felt during these hard times, charity initiative Taber Cares expanded its program by selecting two local charities each month to receive proceeds from every home sale.

Although categorized as a small business, Homes by Taber's Taber Cares program made a huge impact in 2021. Taber Cares donated a total of $395,600 to a variety of non-profits last year. The Oklahoma homebuilder is ecstatic to make an impact in the community that has nurtured the company for the past 22 years in business.

Homes by Taber's community outreach program has recently announced the non-profits that will financially benefit in 2022:

  • January: Pivot & Positive Tomorrows
  • February: Children's Hospital Foundation & Keaton's Kindness Foundation
  • March: Edmond Fine Arts Institute & Infant Crisis Services
  • April: American Lung Association in Oklahoma & Edmond Mobile Meals
  • May: Fostering Sweet Dreams & Lilyfield
  • June: The Children's Rehabilitation Hospital & The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
  • July: The Down Syndrome Association of Central Oklahoma & The Toby Keith Foundation
  • August: Edmond Family Counseling & HALO Project
  • September: Dress for Success OKC & Pet Food Pantry OKC
  • October: Oklahoma Project Women & Project 31
  • November: Folds of Honor Oklahoma & Operation Freedom Outdoors
  • December: Cavett Kids Foundation & Make-A-Wish Oklahoma

Homes by Taber is thrilled by the results of Taber Cares' contributions in 2021 and is overjoyed to hear feedback from 2021 recipients. The impact has inspired even more support for the community in 2022.

Lilyfield, one of the recipients of a $24,000 donation in March of 2021, offers support for children and families involved with the child welfare system. With the donation by Taber Cares, Lilyfield has expanded during-the-day programming for children to receive a safe place to conduct their virtual learning throughout the pandemic. Holly Towers, Lilyfield Executive Director, explained, "This is the community caring for the community. And, we couldn't do it without partners like Taber Homes."

"COVID was really hard for our organization. We're a small, local non-profit. To be able to help even more families is such a gift," Heart and Home Makeovers founder Deidra Livingood explained. Heart and Home Makeovers strives to create a comforting and peaceful home environment for families in difficult situations, such as widows, single parents, and foster families. As one of the May 2021 non-profit recipients of $19,400, Heart and Home Makeovers can assist more families to achieve their own safe space.

Calm Waters, Oklahoma's only grief center specializing in grief support, received $13,200 from Homes by Taber's sales in April of 2021 and echoes difficulties throughout the pandemic. Erin Engelke, Executive Director of Calm Waters, shared, "The last two years have been really hard on our community and, at Calm Waters, we felt the effects of that. In fact, the need for our services has more than doubled." Calm Waters offers services that support children, teens, and adults who have suffered a traumatic loss or are amid grief. "This donation from Homes by Taber will support 378 children who have lost a parent, a sibling, or their families have been torn apart because of divorce."

Homes by Taber goes beyond monetary donations to contribute to the community. In addition to donating $400 of every home sale divided amongst two non-profits each month, the company also requires its more than 130 employees to commit to 16 hours of volunteering each year. The homebuilder instills the volunteerism mindset into its workforce to further support founder Taber LeBlanc's goals of putting the community first.

Homes by Taber is excited to see the impact of its initiatives in 2022 and thanks its homeowners, employees, and non-profits who contributed to Taber Cares' success in 2021.
