New Service Gives Smartphones a Smarter Inbox
Online, May 10, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Our smartphones put a world of convenience at our fingertips. But there's nothing convenient about checking email on one's phone and finding tons of unwanted mass marketing emails. Vast numbers of smartphone users would love to manage email subscriptions from their favorite retailers without unsubscribing or blocking the messages using a spam filter. But without an easy method of doing so, users spend lots of time sifting through these emails manually, each and every day. Luckily, a new service called Unroll.me is now helping increasing numbers of smartphone users (as well as everyone else) to keep these kinds of emails under control.
With a user's permission, Unroll.me searches their inbox for mass marketing emails that are received daily. It then compiles them and gives the option to automatically or add them to one's "Daily Rollup." This is a single email that compiles just those desired emails, almost like an electronic catalog, organized by category such as travel, shopping, health & beauty, etc. Users choose when the Daily Rollup arrives-whether in the morning, afternoon or evening. Unroll.me also manages unsubscribe requests in just a single click. Users have reported paying more attention to each email now that they are all bundled together and sent at a specific time.
In the relatively short time since Unroll.me has been available to the public, users have responded with overwhelmingly positive feedback, said Josh Rosenwald, co-founder and CEO of Unroll.me, which is based in New York City. According to Rosenwald, the service seems to have tapped into a universal desire to keep one's email inbox as free of clutter as possible. On April 10, the company launched an updated website and a Twitter campaign using the hashtag #GrayDay, for "graymail," the term that describes the marketing email that's not quite spam but not quite welcome when it shows up in users' inboxes.
Maintaining constant feedback with its users via its website, Facebook page and Twitter feed, Unroll.me is offering smartphone users a new reason to smile when they check their email on the go.
