Narconon New Life Retreat Supports Local

5th Annual LPSADD Summer Camp

Dillon Ivy of Presenting Awards to Volunteers

This year marks the five-year anniversary for Livingston Parishes Students Against Destructive Decisions summer camp. Each year the camp helps teach kids ages 5 to 11 for free important safety lessons with a fun theme. This year's theme was "Under the Sea" — for five days the campers learned the importance of protecting their brains, including vehicle and bicycle safety, refusal techniques, internet safety, decision-making skills, prescription safety, and character development.

The camp also offers the opportunity for high schoolers and middle schoolers to make a difference in their community by volunteering to help deliver age appropriate lessons. All of this plays into SADD's vision to create the world where young people make positive decisions that advance their health and safety.

"The camp is a blessing for so many in our community including myself. Seeing not only the kids grow and learn, but the high schoolers that volunteer to mentor them as well is an amazing thing," said Dillon Ivy, LP SADD Affiliate State Coordinator.
