MVJ College of Engineering Celebrated 87th Founder's Day
Online, May 22, 2014 (Newswire.com) - The Founder's day was conducted at 11:00 am in Dr MV Jayaraman auditorium. The functionstarted with the traditional lighting of the lamp and an invocation song.
Professor. R. Natarajan, Former Chairman of AICTE New Delhi & Former Director of IIT Madras was the chief guest. The functionwas presided by Dr K S Shanmukharadhya, principal of MVJCE . He cordially welcomed the gathering.
A brief presentation on the works of our founder Dr. M.V. Jayaramanand his vision for the development of MVJ Group of institutions has been shown to the audience. After which, a tribute to our beloved Founder was read out by a student.
Dr R Ramaprabhu, adviser of MVJCE, gave a brief introduction of the honorable chief guest and also felicitated him.
The chief guest addressed the audience . He briefed about the academic and social achievements of the Founder. He also talked about Bloom's Taxonomy which is used to promote higher forms of thinking in education. It includes remembering, understanding, applying ,analyzing, evaluating and creating. He added that lecturers should be tailored for making students attentive in classrooms.
He congratulated MVJCE for going for quality initiatives like ISO 9000. He remarked that faculty should manage both teaching research. He also wished us success for fulfilling the mission and vision of our beloved Founder.
The chief Guest awarded all the 15UG VTU rank holders with a cheque of worth Rs 1,00,000/- each and all the 6PG VTU rank holders with a cheque of worth Rs 50,000/- each and certificates.
Students who got Gold medal in sports also received certificates from the Chief Guest.
Certificates were also awarded to the faculties who conducted sponsored projects and conferences and also to the faculties for the paper publication and book publication.
Ms. SanchariSaha, Assistant Professor of Computer Science department, presented the vote of thanks. The function ended with national anthem.
As always the custom each year on Founder's day celebration, in memory of Dr.M.V.Jayaraman, NSS unit of MVJCE has organised Blood donation camp in association with Red Cross society of India, in which many students, faculty and others have participated actively and donated blood. In the same spirit, used computers in the college have been distributed freely to attenders and few employees from the house keeping so that their children may have awareness of computer technology.
