Music Video Director Lil X Makes A Name Change;Talks About Fundraiser For His Vdeo StuntmanFriend
Online, December 29, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Famed music video director LIL X who has worked with artists such as Usher, NeYo, P. Diddy, Rihanna and Ludacris to name a few now wants to be known as "Director X". In a recent interview with TheCelebrityCafe.com, the video director said that the reason behind the name change was simply one of growth - both musically and professionally.
"Director X sounds more grown up" he says "it's time to be a grown up."
Director X also took the time to talk about his annual fundraiser for his friend Lincoln Russell, a video stuntman who has been diagnosed with Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating disease (CIDP), a debilitating disease that affects the nervous system. Russell is known as the stuntman who appeared in the Timbaland and Missy Elliot video called "Cop that S**t".
Before the disease took over his body, Russell was said to be in ripped form when it came to fitness. "He was a ninja - literally a ninja," Director X said, adding that Russell followed Bruce Lee's fitness routine.
Director X said that the disease has affected Russell to the point that he is dependent on others for help. "He can't sit up on his own, he can't eat on his own. He basically has the motor skills of a four month old".
The fundraiser is in its fourth year and was held on Boxing Day, the day after Russell's birthday. The event also doubles as a birthday party and has been very well received by those in the Toronto community. At the recent fundraiser Canadian rapper Drake hosted the $500-a-plate dinner which was followed by an after-party performance featuring Kardinal (Offishall).
Asked about his directorial plans for the New Year, Director X said that he is already working on some new stuff. "Music videos happen really fast; you start working on them two weeks before."
