MIMIT Health Hires New Vascular and Interventional Radiologist
Dr. Sameer Ahmed Joins the Midwest Institute for Minimally Invasive Therapies Team
CHICAGO, October 8, 2018 (Newswire.com) - Dr. Sameer Ahmed, a Vascular and Interventional Radiologist, was recently added to The Midwest Institute for Minimally Invasive Therapies (The MIMIT) team based in the greater Chicagoland area. MIMIT is a multi specialty group of physicians and surgeons committed to offering minimally invasive, image-guided techniques to diagnose and treat a number of vascular and non-vascular conditions. There are currently nine locations that provide services that include interventional radiology for Vascular Disease, Peripheral Arterial Disease, Dialysis Access Management, Uterine Fibroid Embolization, Kyphoplasty/Pain Management, Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair, Carotid Stenting, Cancer Management.
Dr. Ahmed graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and got his doctorate from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In addition, Dr. Ahmed completed his residency in Radiology at Johns Hopkins. Followed by an Internal Medicine internship at Yale University and a fellowship in Vascular and Interventional Radiology at Northwestern University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Ahmed has received a number of awards and has been published in a multitude of medical journals. He has published extensively in several top journals in vascular imaging and interventional procedures. His research has earned him awards from several organizations, including Cornell University, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, National Science Foundation, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, Radiological Society of North America, and Society of Interventional Radiology.
