Kirin Sushi's New Ramen Bowl a Huge Hit With Customers

Everybody Love Ramen

Kirin Sushi, located on Cate Street in Hammond, Louisiana, is one of the top-ranked sushi restaurants on the Northshore of New Orleans. Celebrating a sweet 16 years in the Hammond area, the restaurant continues to grow and add new favorites to its menu.

Peter Chan opened Kirin on West Thomas Street in Hammond in 2001. Customer demand revealed the need for a larger location, and Chan designed the new restaurant on Cate Street for its opening in 2006.

Ramen is a traditional Japanese dish made from broth based on chicken or pork. It's served with noodles and your choice of toppings, all freshly made to order.

The move added a nightlife environment with an upstairs martini bar as well as a massive dining area, three hibachi areas and a long sushi bar for diners to experience watching the creative sushi chefs at Kirin. Kirin also offers a private dining area for events and meetings as well as a fully stocked bar that includes local favorites.

The menu includes items that honor the area such as the Hammond, East Thomas and Lion rolls. Locals enjoy the daily happy hour from 5-7 p.m. and the Monday night Ramen bowl special.

“Ramen is a traditional Japanese dish made from broth based on chicken or pork. It’s served with noodles and your choice of toppings, all freshly made to order,” Chan said. “It’s been a huge hit with customers, and our staff looks forward to it as well.”

Kirin has fresh fish delivered daily and uses local ingredients in recipes. The restaurant offers chef specials to enhance the dining experience, and it will soon add online ordering and delivery to the list of services.

Kirin Sushi is open Tuesday through Friday from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. for lunch and from 5-10 p.m. for dinner. On Saturdays, the restaurant is open for dinner from 5-10:30 p.m. Kirin is closed on Sundays to allow staff time with their families.
