Kev Hannibal, one of the fastest rising young rappers on the music scene, has announced the release of a brand new mixtape. The music is completely free to all fans and available
everywhere via digital download. This mixtape is just the first of two the rapper plans to
release in the next two months, both of which are precursors to a full-length album, titled
"Issues," that he is releasing early next year.
"I am thrilled to have this new mixtape out," Hannibal said. "I've been working hard in the studio on a lot of new stuff and I think people are going to be very happy and very surprised by some of the music on there."
Kev Hannibal first burst on the scene in 2004, when he won Billboard's prestigious new artist showcase. Since then he has graced the stages with the likes of Lil Scrappy, Brian McKnight , Pitbull, Guy, Bone Crusher and many others. A native New Yorker, still with many ties to the city, he now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. But Hannibal has never been one to let where he was define his music or style.
"I never got into that whole West Coast versus East Coast thing," he explained. "My music and style is all me and is meant for everybody, no matter where they are or who they are. I'm about the music. And connecting with music lovers on the things in life we all share."
Hannibal brings a wide range of experiences to his music. He has been lucky to escape the fate of a lot of his friends, who have died as a result of street life. And unlike a lot of other rappers, who talk about being street soldiers, Hannibal has actually been a soldier, having served in the United States Army for a number of years.
Hannibal is releasing the first of the two mixtapes as a way of introducing fans and new listeners to some of his latest music. He is a prolific writer and has a lot to say so it is not surprising that he can release two tapes and still have more to release on the upcoming album, which won't be free like the mixtapes. Hannibal's music is about real life, what he's been through and what people from walks can relate to. He is not a typical rapper, and rather than glorify street life, Hannibal draws on his experiences from the streets, but mixes that with positivity and meaningful lyrics.
""My music is a reflection of the good and bad times that I have been through, from my childhood to manhood", says Hannibal. "My music is truly me. I hold nothing back because that is what I feel music should be. It's honest.
