Kayleigh Gilbert to Star in South African "Mob" Film

Actress set to star in role in Spring 2016 worldwide release

Kayleigh Gilbert is set to act in an upcoming mob genre film set for release in spring of 2016.

In the film titled Red Winter, Gilbert plays the role of Natasha, the daughter of a gangster patriarch. She finds love in a dark place, but remarkably maintains her innocence throughout mental breakdowns and personal struggle.

“I’m so blessed to be working on a film like this with such a talented group of individuals. I never thought I’d be making films state side”, said the 22 year old South African native.

“Gilbert was cast in the role because her personal background coincided with the main character’s life in almost the exact same ways, almost like the same person," producer Max Albert mentioned at a press conference last week.

Albert went on to talk about how quickly she adapted to her character, "To get an actress from a different background to digest this character would take years to develop and we simply don’t have that time. We tell her to ride a motorcycle she can, we tell her to speak in native slang (Afrikaans) and she does perfectly. We had no choice, she was it," he stated.

This is Ms. Gilbert’s first feature film to be released with world wide distribution. Red Winter is written by Sasha Krane and directed by Jarrett Worley. Worley was quoted at a screening last week saying “I can’t wait for everyone to see what we’ve done it’s quite remarkable.”
